Comment:
An exploration of a couple of the cornerstones on which Floyd's reputation as far-out avant-gardsters rests.According to various sources, the main "Interstellar" riff derives from either "...Red Book" or the theme music to Steptoe & Son (AKA "Old Ned"). The version here is by the English instro-beat combo The Eagles not their more laid-back homonyms.
The long version of "...Overdrive" comes from the soundtrack CD to the film "Tonite Lets All Make Love In London".
Then come a bunch of covers some straight forward, some more oblique.
The P. Scream track quotes "Overdrive's " descending spiral riff so overtly it might as well come with neon inverted commas attached.
Finally, the band's first trip beyond the confines of the everyday without Cap'n Syd at the helm and a later expedition to find out just where it was they went.
Feedback:
Very cool.
What Curtis said, and I'll add "really interesting" to the fray, as well.
