Comment:

The first Eleven songs are from the spring of '74, with the next ten songs from the summer of '74 and ends with one more song from the spring of '74. I got the idea to do a mix for this period after listening to Steve Raglin's "Boom Chaka Laka Laka", which included the song used here as track 4 and also the song "Be Thankful for what you Got" by William DeVaughn (which I had used on a previous mix). Both songs were from the Spring of '74, so I thought I'd check out that period and voila, this is the result...

Nice stuff, Joe! I especially dig the Rick Derringer cut and the double dose of Stevie Wonder. (Isn't the Beach Boys cut a decade earlier in origin?)

Hi Steve, The Beach Boy tune is a bit of an anomaly. It was first issued in March '63, when it charted for 17 weeks and reached #3. It was re-released in August '74, when it charted for 8 weeks and reached #36. The song is now credited as written by Chuck Berry ("Sweet Little Sixteen").
