Comment:
A feast of Pop Gems from the 60's & 70's...some well known, others not so. Enjoy.Side1 (3-4) The inspiration for The Partridge Family & everyone's favourite Mormons setting The Book Of Revelations to music.
(6) I stood next to Miss Quatro at a party and she came up to my hip...and yes it did cross my mind...aw c'mon she'd been peddling that 'you're mamma won't like me...daytona demon' routine at me for years.
(8) Peddling the Black Arts (I know Voodoo is a religon but you know what I mean) to kiddies. Thanks to Cruella for track.
(11-12) Neil's ditty is anti-drug - highlighted / hi-jacked by harrowing tales of pot addiction by teen fiends now re-formed. Probably by Neil who threatened them with repeat viewings of The Jazz Singer. Green Plant was rumoured to be but is actually about a green plant growing in the office. Read: the writer was stoned out of his mind.
(13-14) Incest rears it's ugly head or at least Barry Williams (Greg) rears his as he musically gets it on with his (on screen) step-sister Maureen McCormick (Marcia).. 'Wanna take you to my sugar shoppe, so come on / I wanna give you all the love I got, so come on.' And don't think it's just Barry who wants 'sugar shoppin' all through the night'...Marcia wants exactly the same...and at the end she doesn't just want 'candy kisses in the moonlight'...she wants 'cherry lollipops.' Okay so this is a TV Show but as far as I was concerned The Bunch were real and, right or wrong, sex between step siblings is illegal...well at least it is here in the UK. As for Frank & Nancy's stupidity, well, I think it has something to do with Phaedra (Nancy) who, according to Greek Myth, had sexual relations with with her step-son. Maybe, & I'm groping around for Susan Dey's apples in the dark here, Frank & Nancy were the missing parents in The Brady Bunch.
Side 2 (1-3) A plague of under-age girls on your lyrics. Shadow is only 14 years old. Puckett might not age her but his love for her 'is way out of line...you better run girl you're way too young.' And don't be fooled by the hippy groove of Mendocino - a Northern Californian logging community - it's obviously far enough off the beaten track, away from the cops, to take your 'teenybopper...teenage lover' and shag her senseless 'along the way in Mendocino.' Better have a pair of tweezers 'coz both you're arses are gonna be packing splinters.
(5) Mistress / Slave thang in Prehistoric times.
(6) 3 men, Joe, me & Timothy trapped in a mine shaft. When they were rescued Joe & me remained. Yup. Joe & me ate Timothy. Banned in many countries for fear some carnivores might trap themselves in a mine shaft and eat each other.
(8) Cher lives (or rather dies) the role of a shot soldier in Vietnam who realizes how much he loves his wife 'I knew it surely when I saw the blood....I said I love you dying in the mud'.
(10-11) Both Noddy & David bemoan the perks of of a rock star i.e. loads of different women, room service, more women & even more women & in Dave's case Susan Dey!!!
(12) Forget the barmy psych out & listen to the way Lee sings or doesn't sing to Nancy 'I'm gonna open up your GATE...
(15) And people wonder why Michael is the way he is...after Barry & Maureen I'd not only want my eyes removed for fear of seeing her greedy eyes light up at Barry fumbling with his lollipop, I'd want my ears removed for fear of hearing Barry on his vinegar strokes.

Feedback:
Worthy of your talents D. I have been thinking about using that Quatro song on a mix.
Looks great!
Fabulous, Dom! So I hear that Joe said that he would sell his soul for just a piece of meat?
Funny title, groovy mix (except Gary Puckett - BLEEEEEEEEEEEECH!). Glad you're back!
Outstanding in every way. Does it come with a copy of Teen Beat?
Simply jaw-dropping.
I'm with the musicgnome.
Yeah, outstanding mix.
Goodness, what a brilliant mix. Won't post this for a couple of days but the MOTW hands down!
i would really love to hear this ... looks fantastic.
cool
Very great. Zager & Evans was in this 'most depressing songs ever' list recently-the author totally slayed it. I kind of agree but like it anyway.
Super duper - Susan was probably my earliest crush. And look at us now...
Lots of cool picks.
Like Lally, Susan was my own first crush as well, the other crush I'm experiencing is for this....
I want apocalyptic candy & my ears are smoking!
Wond'rous fun, as always, Dom. Tres amusante!
This looks really great. I have to admit, a young Susan Dey... *sighs*... not quite Maureen McCormick, but she'd do. ;-)
Ah, memories. Love the mix and the notes!
dom, fantastic. as always.
I'm with everybody else here!
the more I look at this the better it gets . . .
