Comment:

I was inspired to make this mix after my dissapointment with the Rhino Records comp. Left of the Dial. Maybe you heard of it? I thought it was gross. I'm not a snob or anything! It's just...okay... Depeche Mode or Half Japanese? Which would you call the most heartfelt & true musical innovator? It pisses me off that it seems all you have to nowadays is name drop greats like Pixies & Sonic Youth along with dumb shits like Bright Eyes and Hot Hot Heat to be considered a conisseur of indie rock! It's NOT that easy. try talking to some of those kids and you'll see who the true snobs are! They're SO full of themselves, I HATE THEM!!! Really good underground bands are still around though, you just have to know where to look. I've said it athousand times before & I'll say it again INDIE IS NOT A SOUND. Notice how all these bands on here are indie or were indie at one time & NOT ONE has the same sound! Indie means you work independantly from the main stream! You can't define punk rock, but that's the definition of indie plain and simple. Indie can sound like anything! ANYWAYS, I'm really getting off track. IF I was appointed to compile 10 years worth of brilliant 80s rock'n'roll onto four discs, heres what I'd have come up with! Note that it's the same number of songs and discs as Left of the Dial. And obviously, there was shitloads of brilliant bands in the 80s, and a number of them couldn't be included, like Crucifucks, Fang, and of course X who I love and were actually on the original Rhino comp (along w/ a few choice other's), but I cut them for reasons only known to me. AND, as you can see, it's all in alphabetical order, simply because I was lazy.HOWEVER, I will eventually update a proper track list. I'm kind of obsessive compulsive over song order. But alphabetical or not, it sounds pretty smoothe.
