There Ain't No Sanity Claus
Comment:
Marking my triumphant return to the site and beginning to post a backlog with my annual all-over-the-place birthday mix for Steverino. Opening with three 'list' songs and i shoulda added 'Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)' except I was in too much of a hurry to get to my aching powerpop run, into some sunshine pop (thanx, Jim, for Glen-cum-Brian Wilson), ending with a mammoth showtune/sitar workout that somehow works. Side Two starts with some very wise vocalists (bye bye Bobby S) and you must hear Sammy's dead-on Velvet Fog-into-Jerry Lewis shtick. More novelty takes us into rockabilly (Gene's best ever, no lie), the usual sleazey/cheesey and swingin' sixties-ish, ending with more yuks (that's Keef backing Screamin' Jay) and Millie's amazing chorale finale. I have been away far too long and missed you all to pieces.Feedback:
I'm giving this mix five stars for the Marx Brothers quote title alone. The songs are another kettle of bananas -- and a very tasty bunch they are. I don't know who you are, or where you come from, but you've done me a power of good. Make that three hard-boiled eggs.
This is absolutely to die for, Eric. GREAT to see you back. If you'd like to trade for this, I'm game... (Btw, if you'd have included "Life is a Rock," you would have included the third single that I ever bought.)
We missed your pieces as well, Eric. Love the looks of this C90. Don't leave us this way again.
Wow, this does look like a helluvalottafun.
