Comment:

In general, pop isn't all that strong on science & certainty; it prefers to lurk in the shadowlands where logic, reason and the scientific method start to crumble and dissolve. That's why its cast of stock characters contains a preponderance of persons of mystery, mostly (but not exclusively) women well-versed in the dark arts. When not using their wiles to hold poor helpless men in thrall, they're gazing into their crystal balls and prophesising what the future holds in store. No respecters of genre, they appear in New Orleans funk, prog, beat-boom pop, northern soul, folk & grunge, usually as witches, gypsies and fortune-tellers. Exhibit A.

I'll pass on the Lou Christie, but the rest of this looks top-notch.

Nice mix & unlike Mr Conroy it's great to see Mr Christie who I believe was married to a Fortune Teller of sorts.

Another good one. Love the Searchers through Nina Simone stretch. And another vote for Lou Christie.
