Comment:

The third night of the LA riots in 1992, I taped this set off of a local radio show called "Skankshaft", a ska/reggae/soul/garage show on KXLU. I dug it out and listened to it again recently after the riots in France began. It's a really good set, very sweet and mournful, and it really captured my feelings about those riots...so I thought I'd share. I wish I could remember the name of the DJ. BTW, Alma, that's a very nice mix you posted a few days ago.

What a brilliant playlist - The Heptones, Ann Sexton and the unique Slim Smith. I can also recommend the Stylistics version of People Make The World Go Round, but I'll bet you know it anyway. Hortense also does a tremendous verson of Marlena Shaw's Woman Of The Ghetto. I'm turning into a real anal old bore here. Glad you enjoyed my La Haine mix anyway.
