Comment:
I am, alas, a total sucker for tribute albums. While the batting average is notoriously low, there are rewards, sampled herewith. Some thematic tributes (bubblegum, Stiff, Doc Pomus and surf Bacharach, plus friends of mighty Norton Records on Sam the Sham) hold up particularly well. The Powerpop Mafia clearly had a ball contributing to the front half of Side One, while side Two opens with the obligatory Beatles/Stones/Who/Zep run. Okay this is kinda trainspot-y, but that's what this site's all about.Feedback:
This is great stuff! I love the Shonen Knife and Debbie Harry especially, and I'd love to hear some of the more obscure stuff.
FUN! Nice to see a Schmuckler appearance! How's that von Sneidern take?
Covers are either hit or miss and these look like hits!
Great lookin' mix Eric!
Looks good Eric. You got all the bases covered.
