Comment:

For the hell of it, although this took close to two weeks to snap into place. The edit of the Butthole Surfers song (which is apparently the title of the first song on Hairway to Steven) occurs at about 7:40, just before the "You rang?"; I decided to eliminate the last five minutes, as they were too meandering and pastoral to fit the mood of the beginning of this mix. Thanks to p the swede for the MBV track, to lo-fi jr for the Groundhogs track, and to both Jana and sport! for the Betty Davis track. For those of you who haven't heard Centipede E~est (esp Shawn Porter and lo-fi jr), you really, really need to get their debut album--it sounds like the Groundhogs filtered through Black Mountain with a tad bit more of a pop sensibility (and they're from Pittsburgh, to boot!). Title from Young Marble Giants.

Fantastic, love that 12-13 double punch. But I thought you didn't like The Doors, Rob...?

Tracks 5 - 8 & the excellent MBV tune make up for the classic rot (just kidding... sorta). Haven't heard of Centipede E~est yet but combined with the mighty Modey Lemon I'm thinking there's something heavy in the Pittsburgh waters.
