Try being stupid instead of smart: The '70s, Pt. 5
Comment:
Yes, I caved, and it's all Jana's fault (see her argument on Vol. 4 of this series). There will be another volume, as well, despite the fact that this took four (4!) (IV!) full drafts to finally perfect (the problem kept cropping up in the running order of the first five tracks). Title from the pen of Chance.Feedback:
First rate, as usual!
classic stuff
Very nice - I'm trying to hear the segue between 6 & 7 in my head and it's making me dizzy. I'll have to try it after work when I'm closer to my music collection.
Wonderful!
Emitt Rhodes, Joy Division and Kiss back to back to back?! What have you been putting in your eggnog? I want a sip.
I must say tr.14 is one of my all time favourites. Everything here is classic stuff.
Excellent!
Really love the Brown -> Chance -> Undertones run Rob.
There is still so much more....
nice stuff, love "the passenger" great tune.
good one.
nice one. Love the CCR and Iggy trax especially.
Great! Really like the 1-6 stretch.
Love the Kuti! Weird sentence...yet, truth be told...I like having the Kutis.
Great stuff
A few ringers here (Ocean, Teenage Kicks, Warsaw, Passenger), but the rare nod to the timeless joy of "Brother Louie" wins my vote. "Louie Louie Louie Lou-eeeeee; Louie Louie Louie Lou-ayyyyy..."
Who the heck is Emitt Rhodes? Some football player? Way too obscure, dude. Otherwise an awesome showcase from the western world. Too bad Asia didn't exist in the 70s or there could be a Vol. 6. (Kidding kidding kidding!!!!!)
Yes! Thank you, good Sir. This is brilliant!
Awesome, Rob. So many nice picks, and what I love about it is that it's so concise. The Model is one of my favourite songs ever ever ever (though I like the German version even better! ;) ) and love the Joy Division and Iggy Pop (of course) too.
yess rob sweet props for the emitt rhodes track.... you rule ! :) :)
Glad you did one more (and another on the way!). Plus, you realized you can't possibly close out the decade without Fela and Kiss. Love that Lizzy tune as well as everything else on here.
