Comment:
Ride `em camelboy! A mix for alma cogan, inspired by the camel racing black market. According to the Daily Times, the smuggling of Pakistani children to take part in exploitative camel races started in the 1960s. Even today, local gangs and their foreign facilitators smuggle thousands of children to be jockeys in their camel race clubs. Many of the jockeys either die or become crippled. But the winning jockeys are treated like rock stars and feast on roasted quail! This mix does not attempt to take a political stand but rather to glamorize the turbulent life of the young camel jockey. Sit back, racegoers. You're in for a smooth ride beyond your wildest dreams....
Feedback:
this looks great, and would like to hear it someday..........
..certainly much schmoover than a camel ride! O' the woes of youth...h'yah!
Great lookin' mix...top knotch!
Man oh man, this looks spectacular, as usual. Both discs look great, but the first one looks especially solid. A mixed-genre delight!
This is fucking beautiful. My I love your work...
nice!
Why da ye think Gobi's in the desert? Great mix.
Looks like this camel's been around the bend and back again, from the Ozarks to Newcleus to Doris Day! I'm adding this to the "original soundtracks" exhibit, and I'm hoping the movie gets made someday, not to doubly exploit those poor kids or anything...
A themed mix that had to be made and could only have been made by Orchid. Spectacular. Charles Mingus -> Barry Manilow makes me indescribably, inexplicably happy.
That's What You Call Mixed Genre.A great name for a compilation that ;-)
A LOT here I am unfamiliar with...(which tends to be the case with your most wonderful mixes)...but, what I do know is absolutely stunning.
Particularly like the Mingus, Beat Happening, Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty and Weather Report and Willie Nelson! Yes, yes, good for what ails me.

This is just kickass - things always go better when there's Brook Benton involved. And now I have this image of Santa in a sled pulled by eight tiny camels.
Harlequin & Pierrot neck & neck at the finish line . . . . I'm thinking this must be one of those 480-minute cassettes? And, I need some more help her, is Louie Nunn playing the wise old retired camel handler or the evil bookie who's been putting steroids in the camel chow? ? ?
Many mysteries here -
Whatever, you've got some cacklin' sax on here & I know that must be good!

It looks like a fab finish.
Dang! I almost missed this. Now that AOTM is only showing the 50 most recent mixes (as opposed to the old 100), I really have to be on my (camel) toes. Looks like a wonderful eclectic mix that I'm sure our man Alma will love. Two humps up! Time to sing my camel (and myself) to sleep....
I like, I like! Especially the Beat Happening, Doris Day and of course the Shirley Bassey. Cool cover too.
excellent - and as a sign of the times, they are experimenting with robot camel jockies here in Dubai now (and in Qatar). Good stuff.
This is flippin' awesome. Great mix.
how did this one slip past me!? this is good stuff. your Newcleus/Doris Day transition is wonderful. there are showtunes, some twang...and even the Force MDs. all very nice.
I second and third Alex's sentiment, very well done.
