Comment:
2005/12/12 --- iqaluit, nunavuti was working on a different mix and took a break to start this mix as a quick one-off intended to poke fun at a friend who has trouble keeping her busy schedule straight. however, once i started demo-ing tracks, a bunch of other themes bubbled up to make themselves heard and i ended up spending
way more time on this mix than i had anticipated.
while the initial mix was mostly about wisftul disappointment, an overlay emerged about a relationship that never really gels, where for one reason or another, a good time for one party is a bad time for the other. i especially like the way that tracks 17-21 seem to create a conversation that echoes elements from tracks 15 and 16. also, a train motif charged its way into the mix, along with a disturbing sense of up and down moodiness, perhaps emulating the feeling of a loss of control brought about by our too-hectic lives.
hopefully the extra attention has ensured that the tracks flow together, both music-wise and story-wise. i want to mention a few of the worthy songs that almost survived the final cut: jim croce's 'time in a bottle', bobby darin's' don't rain on my parade', ace of base 'never gonna say i'm sorry', white town's 'going nowhere somehow', limahl's 'never ending story' and victoria williams' rendition of 'somewhere over the rainbow'.
thanks to lipstick vogue for the My Chemical Romance track, to greg for the Guthries, srah for Jim Henson and audio missile defence for the Tom Waits track.

Feedback:
Love Kasey Chambers. There are a few artists here that I have met from previous senator mixes. Looks great!
