Too cool - I've never seen anyone (other than me) acknowledge that Fatboy Slim cover. It's kinda neat for me personally that when "Palookaville" come out last year and I discovered that cover is about the same time I first heard William Shatner's "Common People", so I always bunch my love for the 2 together. There are some others on here that I didn't even know about, which is what I prefer when looking over cover compilations, to find gems and surprises. I didn't know Billy Corgan did Iron Maiden, or of that "Grease" remake (although of course I am familiar with many other versions of that song). I'll admit there are a couple here I don't care for - Clem Snide's "Beautiful" for example, almost works if you can forget about its original context and vacuity and try to believe that Snide himself is writing these words with his usual poignant conviction, but in the end I just find indie covers of mainstream pop songs to be distractingly stupid, most often because the original songs just plain suck. Like all those well-known covers of Britney's "One More Time": gag. Also, though I like Snow Patrol, I actually prefer Beyonce's take on that one, and something about Nouvelle Vague rubs me all wrong. But you make up for it with good efforts on "Misirlou", "Hounds of Love", and "Light My Fire", among others. And as for the others...well, I'm off to download. Thanks for the recommendations :)
