Comment:
A tribute to Mighty Joe South, featuring some covers that made him a few bucks and did him justice (thus, no Osmonds), some production (though this Sandy Posey track, my fave, isn't all Joe), some guitar work (Aretha, S&G), and some of his fantastic original recordings. One of my fave rock and roll figures in the 1960s who disappeared from the music scene after the suicide of his brother, with only the occasional unceremonious return. One notable omission - Joe's work on Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde". I wasn't exactly sure what tracks he played on, and the mood didn't totally fit with everything else on here. Joe "Making the sitar cool for pop music" South - hell yeah.Feedback:
Can't lie...not familiar...interesting mix set-up, btw.
I'm familiar with many of the songs (most notably Swamp Dogg's take on your title track), but had no clue about their source. Thanks for another lesson, Prof.
Forever and ever amen!
Really excellent - I'm headed "South"
Nice!
nice one Sean!!!
Very cool tribute.
Very cool, Lallo. Maybe I can get a copy of this one, too (put this near the top of the growing pile that stretches back the past three years)...
I knew him for that great full voice on "Games" but was clueless on the rest. Thanks...
Well deserving of a tribute. Games People Play is such a great song.
Looks great!
Excellent mix Mr. Lally..would have been better though with The Osmonds ;)
Excellent.
F'in Great!! I've been on a Joe South binge lately.
Even without the Osmonds, this still looks quite good. Not one bad apple.
Very nice indeed. And I agree that "Blonde On Blonde" might not have worked here - I think you chose wisely!
Joe South will rise again!
when & if you have the time & inclination for a trade, I'd want to hear this . . .

I must say that I had no idea he was so influential . . . nice jobbie!
Great mix, I appreciate the learning experience.
nice
A "Lally" classic. I'll have to trade for this sometime!
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
I love Sandy Posey, she re-did Joe South's song, "Games People Play" a few years back. JAMES DALPHONSE
