Comment:

It occured to me a while ago that i don't like change. For me, the original version of a song is almost always the best. Now i don't want to cause a commotion or provoke a reaction ( of course i do! ) but this mix contains 21 originals that at some point i think were bettered. The artist who provided the definitive version is listed in brackets. Of course this means there is an alternative mix to this i should enjoy more. But for now.....
Comments on omissions and wrongful inclusions will be gladly recieved!

very cool. although Aretha's version of track no. 8 is definitive, the Wolfgang Press also do a fine rendition.

Interesting! Don't agree with them all, obviously... particularly disgruntled with 12... but right with 21... etc.

Actually I don't think I do agree with you but a great idea and the cause of much discussion!

I disagree with some of your "definitive" choices, and in an irritating and provocative manner, I'm not going to say which ones... However, I love the concept. Once more you you've thrown down the gauntlet. Only Curtis_Burns can save us now...

Love this! Great concept, and although most of these songs were certainly one-upped, they hold up well on their own & work well complied together. Nice mix!

Great concept - but of course I disagree with the choices . . . but that is what this mix is for right? Soft Cell indeed! Harumph!

NO WAY is that dreadful, played-to-death Soft Cell di-version of "Tainted Love" any better than Gloria Jones's original. And: The Clash surpassing the mighty Junior Murvin? The lousy Damned better than Barry Ryan? And, last but by no means least, Dusty IMPROVED by that gruesome twosome, the White Stripes? You must be seriously kidding! ;)

Now THAT was the kind of reaction I was looking for. Thankyou Thomas!
I will stand by The Damned ( if only because it rhymes ). But the rest, especially Dusty Springfield & Gloria Jones, well, what was I thinking? There aren't many superior covers out there so I was probably just filling in holes.

Sammy, devilish title since the tracks are all quite good. Special thx too for the SR disk so I could do some A-B comparisons. For the $64 question, are the originals inferior to the remakes? Well that is a matter of opinion. I was familiar with some of the originals but discovered some nice ones here, like Junior Murvin. Thx for the trade.

Tough call on the last track. My favorite U2 song covered by one of my heroes.

3, 8, 9, & 10 were definitely given a new twist, if not bettered.

Interesting mix, compelling theme, controversial selections. Who could ask for anything more?
