The Beauty of the World and the Way it Makes Me Cry
Comment:
Sometimes when I think about things - like, ALL things at once, when I try to cram every thought and feeling and experience and person and place and object into my mind at the same time, I am (naturally) overwhelmed by how much it all means to me. All the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, the pointless moments and big events, the boredom and the excitement, the love and the hatred, the joy and the depression, the unbearable regret and the everlasting hope, the infinity of memories so precious regardless of their content, and just the sheer beauty of the world, everything in it, and my meaningless journey through its grand expanse...it brings me to my knees. To the untrained eye, this mix doesn't suggest any of that. But it does to me, I guess because I was dwelling on this stuff while listening to this music. So I arranged it and themed it best as I could; there's a heavy love angle here, which is more than appropriate given the current lovelorn circumstances in my life, but it almost came about by accident (virtually every song in existence relating one way or another to that most poignant of emotions). There's also an emphasis on big rock and roll numbers on the outset, because even though the inspiration for this mix is intensely personal, I wanted to express it in a way befitting my values; that is, I wanted it to be outwardly happy and grand, with wistful undercurrents. Oh, and lastly, there's kind of a summer feel to parts of it, for the same reasons (summer's coming up, and it's my favorite season, the most conducive to my innate outlook of positivity and appreciation for all things). Okay, sorry to sound so lame, but there it all is.
Feedback:
Feeling the emotion behind this one. At the end of the day for me the Small Faces sum life up perfectly on 'Ogden's Nutgone Flaked Tobacco' when they sing, "Life is just a bowl of All-bran!" Still thre journey's one worth making, destination unknown & who knows where we stop off along the way.
Nice! You don' t sound lame -- and neither does the mix. Sedaka is back.
We got a softy in the house!
Beautiful summation, beautiful sentiment. Viva sunshine!
