Comment:
Except me, of course. I still like all these bands. This is basically a guilty pleasure mix, only instead of songs it's musicians. It's made in honor of the recent releases of three bands - Everclear, New Found Glory, and Smash Mouth - whose latest albums I was looking forward to, yet who I realized all had completely disappeared from the limelight and from all relevancy. I mean, they never had respect, but now they don't even have fans, it seems. None of their new songs are prominent on the radio at this time, yet they're still doing good work. Granted, it's a bit redundant since none of them have effectively evolved since their heydays, but still, the music continues to be enjoyable. But I guess I'm the only person on Earth who thinks so.It would actually probably surprise a lot of people to learn that most of these bands are still producing music to this day (with a few sad exceptions, like Aqua, Eve 6, and possibly Prozzak) - 80% of them have had new albums come out in the last year or so - and although I don't still follow ALL of them with the same fervor (Good Charlotte, for one, got boring with their last CD, as did Allister, MxPx, and LTJ, and others like Offspring and Third Eye Blind are well past their primes), I remain foolishly devoted to most of their careers. Most of them (like the pop-punk bands and '90s-era acts) I should have outgrown long ago, but I can't help it, I'm attached. They won me over in the days of yore and I'm a loyal guy. So this is a tribute to them - you all may fly under the radar (or just be universally reviled, a la McFly who I guess have stayed pretty famous in their homeland) or be ignored as just plain irrelevant, but there's someone out there who believes in you :)
Feedback:
i have to admit, i still like the aquabats, and that first smash mouth album holds up pretty well. and the album that def leppard song is from is good too...

everclear is a seriously underrated gem of a band.
I have no guilty pleasures any longer. I have decided that if I like a band (as you do here) and no one else does, well, that is their malfunction and loss.
That's a really funny concept. I love it, and a lot of bands on this list. I didn't know Ben Folds covered that song though. I'll have to check it out
I'm with April 20. . . . . but Def Leppard . !?!Cake does it for me . . .
