Comment:

I'm presently working on a special project that should have me tied up (masochist that I am) for another week or two. In the mean time, here are some more tunes by the one and only Led Zeppelin, since they are deserving of a 2nd CD of their rock masterpieces (I warned you I might do this). Anyway, for those who like to party hardy
on the weekends, I have the mix available for download (just click the first song title).

In the early 70's I worked at The Hardrock/Village, Stretford, possibly the best concert venue and nightclub in the UK -- at least in its day. During my tenure I was fortunate enough to see just about every major artist that chose to visit Britain. I mean everyone. It was a magical time -- and I was paid for the privilege -- paradise! However, and this is where the story really starts, I was a big, pronounced BIG, spelt B-I-G Led Zeppelin fan. Oh yes, I awaited their visit like some worshipper at wherever it is that worshippers wait. The great day arrived! Woohoo! I was unable to raise my fever-wracked body from me pit and I had the only night off I ever had throughout the 2 and a half years I worked there. I missed one gig - THE gig - Led Zeppelin. For many years I have been unable to talk about this. So thanks, Joe, for re-opening this terrible old wound. But hey ho, and never mind. This mix contains my favourite Led Zeppelin, nay, one of my favourite songs ever - "That's The Way" - it actually appears on a mix I have yet to post - part of my horribly nostalgic "Hills Were Higher" trilogy. I'll stop banging on about me and say a big thank you to you, Joe. I failed to comment on volume one of this admirable series, for reasons which elude me now - apologies for that. I couldn't let this one pass, not with "That's The Way" calling me back to that memorable day at Mrs. Waring's record shop. The day that Led Zeppelin III came in. I recall my first hearing of "That's The Way". It's right up there with "And Your Bird Can Sing" in Nomates's seminal musical jolts. So, yes Joe, and yes again. That's the way.

A great series Joe, a real labour of love.. My personal faves are 4,5 & 11 on this disc. It's just a shame you didn't include 'That's The Way' on here. Oh, wait you did... Echoing Barry on the thanks re: 1969. Join us again soon!
