Comment:
I can't say enough good things about Beulah. They were probably the best pop band in the world while they were around, always working hard to put on an energetic live show. I first heard them when they opened for Archers of Loaf in SF, when AoL was on their final tour. It was something of a passing of the torch: I was losing one of my favorite bands, but I discovered a new favorite that night. It also reflects the shift in indie rock from Dino Jr. & Pavement-inspired slacker noise of the early 90's to the Beach Boys obsession of the late 90's. But I digress . . . Their positive energy gripped me immediately, and "Disco: The Secretaries Blues" became an instant favorite. If you haven't yet experienced the pop magic of Beulah, I advise you to buy When Your Heartstrings Break or The Coast Is Never Clear ASAP!Feedback:
strange coincidence, someone else just posted a beulah mix as well - as with that one, you used both my favorite songs by them (tracks 5 & 9), so this looks pretty good. great band.
Looks like it covers most of the bases.
Great band. I, too, was first exposed to them as an opening band (though I can't for the life of me remember who they opened for -- Pavement? Apples in Stereo?). The fourth and (apparently) final album wasn't quite up to snuff with the first 3, but still a ton of great songs over their short career. I haven't made a Beulah-only mix (though I made a Beulah vs. Minders mix a couple years back); if I did, it would look pretty much exactly like this.
