Comment:

I love the British, so civilized. I had to whip off something fast for a friend that needs something angry and loud so what better than classic Brit Punk? Which begs the question. What is the best British punk song? I would love to know your thoughts. My favorite is Anarchy In The U.K.

This is great, of course. Best British punk song? Er, that depends on how you define "punk." My nominees: "Another Girl, Another Planet" (the Only Ones); "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais" or "Janie Jones" (the Clash); "Rowche Rumble" (the Fall); or "New Rose" (included here).

Come to think of it, "Holidays in the Sun" by the Sex Pistols should be on that list, as well.

Wow, this is angry in such a good way. My vote for the best British punk song would have to be The Crass' "How does it Feel to Be the Mother of A Thousand Dead".

Top 3 British Punk Tracks..
1) Stiff Little Fingers - Suspest Device 2) Clash - (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais 3) Killjoys - Johnny Won't Go To Heaven... All 20 featured here would be there or thereabouts though. Great f***ing mix!

Magical. My choices have all been pretty much covered but I would opt for What Do I Get by the Buzzcocks and Alternative Ulster by SLF. But The Clash White Man is right on the money, it don't get no better. Great mix.

Awesome. My favorite British punk song is "Wannabee" by the Spice Girls, but most of these are contenders.

Fuckin' A, baby! I need to listen to that X-Ray Spex tune at least once a year for cathartic purposes.

Classic cuts all around. This is better than any officially released comp could be. My fave Brit punk song would probably be any randomly selected song by The Clash, who in my opinion are the true Gods of punk rock music, no matter what country you're talkin'

Just about every song on here is a personal fave. I also love the Brit punk from this era. It got me through high school unscathed and over excited.

I shall defend my Stiff Little Fingers choice as they're from Belfast, Northern Ireland, which is part of Great Britain.

Excellent collection; wonderful tracks one and all. I think my favourite still has to be Holidays In The Sun by The Sex Pistols, but I like Rob's choice of Rowche Rumble too (though if I were being pedantic I'd put that in the post-punk category). In any case, both of them have a stomping call-to-arms quality. Out of the tracks here, I particularly like your inclusion of 12XU and White Riot. But I love all of it!

Wonderful. Gimme the Pistols "Pretty Vacant" or Wire's "It's So Obvious."

Catching this on the rebound and this is more than nice. I can understand the nod to Anarchy but I think Hammersmith caught the mood a bit more correctly. You know what I mean? That sound has to be credited to New York, but the attitude....it was the White Man no matter the beat.
