today is my girlfriend's birthday - the most wonderful, beautiful, charming, loveable, adorable, sweetest girl anyone is liable to ever have the fortune of meeting - & this is her birthday mix. it's been done for quite some time now, but i wanted to wait until her birthday to post it - friday the 13th, incidentally (don't worry, no accidents have befallen her). at the time of making this, i was unemployed & broke, & was under the impression i wouldn't be able to actually do anything special for her birthday, so i set out to redeem myself by making the greatest mix i'd ever made. i spent months on this, patiently working my craft, rounding up all the songs that i had set aside from previous mixes because i was saving them for the opportune time. in my eyes, i succeeded by a long shot - this is head & shoulders above anything i've ever made before. the "epilogue" after the last track refers to a sound clip of the closing lines in annie hall ("i guess we keep going through it because most of us need the eggs"), one of my top 10 all-time favorite films, & one of our films together, which closes out the disc. i should mention that the gram parsons song is my personal song to her, the song that - had i ever the choice to choose one song to dedicate to her in our lives - i would give to her. it expounds picture perfectly how i feel about her & our relationship. this mix really means alot to me, & i hope it makes her special day that much more special. the title is from jonathan richman.

p.s. i apologize for my absence & lack of participation around these parts lately; i just got a new job, & i've been trying to assimilate into my new schedule & responsibilities the best i can. my contribution to AOTM will most likely be limited for an indefinite amount of time, but i am here, lurking in the shadows, & will be back in full-swing at some point - hopefully sooner rather than later.

EDIT: i tried to get this posted real quick last night, after work & before bed, & in the process forgot to give a HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to both thomas mohr & barrydali for the wedding present track. so, kudos to them!
