Comment:

Pretty self-explanatory, I'd say. My favorite tracks by my favorite heavy rock pioneers, all culled from their classic first six albums. Last track cut: "Iron Man." [In response to those below who are bemoaning the absence of "Iron Man": while "Iron Man" obviously contains a "classic" riff, it's just not one of my favorite Sabbath tracks. To me, it showcases some of their worst qualities and is kind of a hamfisted performance. As stated above, this is a mix of my *favorite* Sabbath songs and is not necessarily meant to be *definitive* as a hits collection. In response to Sean specifically, I completely disagree with your assessment regarding the second disc, which contains most of my favorite Sabbath tracks. In response to Moe, if I ever get around to re-doing my Zep mixes from years ago, there's a high likelihood that "Stairway to Heaven" will not make the cut for two reasons: one, it's just not a favorite of mine, and two, I'm beyond sick of it.]

damn, it's a shame "iron man" didn't make the cut - i can still remember hearing that blasted at full volume on every car trip i took with my dad as a kid - that being said, this is a fantastic summation of a truly seminal band

Gee, a 2-cd Black Sabbath mix without Iron Man, but with Sweet Leaf (or much of disc 2 that isn't nearly as essential to me)? Ah well, it rocketh nonetheless. Truth be told, I love the Sabbath, but I might actually dig the first Ozzy solo album more. But that's just me.

No "Iron Man"?! That's like doing a Led Zeppelin mix without "Stairway To Heaven" -- or a Haysi Fantayzee mix without "Shiny Shiny." It's just wrong. At least "Paranoid" made the cut, so not all is lost. That aside, this appears to be a pretty thorough examination of Black Sabbath's back catalog. Five stars and a devil horn salute to you, my friend.

Glad Sweet Leaf made the grade. Another classic gap in my music collection -- when I wanted to get a fix, I borrowed my step-bro's, cousin's, or friends' Sabbath LPs. I don't regret spending my limited resources on more obscure bands when I was a kid, but this would be great to have, to remind me what I've been missing.

One of my earliest favorite bands. I remember hearing the first album and it scared the hell out of me. Something about that tritone chord progression, still gives me the creeps to this day. At the time, I was watching all those The-Devil-Lives-In The-Woods style b-movies, like "Alucarda" and "Blood On Satan's Claw", movies that looked like that album cover. All my favorite songs here. I get what you're saying about Iron Man. I think Symptom Of The Universe is my favorite song here.
