Comment:

The title has nothing to do with the mix, but it's Halloween season and this is my official October 2007 mix - what's more, the songs don't really go together all the way (Radiohead, the Boss, and Hairspray?) but I already like how it conveys a specific time in the life of my music obsession. This is my soundtrack for the month. It's not nearly complete, of course - I had many softer, more melancholic songs, but the mix as it is was already growing too large, so I jettisoned all that and stuck to a poppy, rock-oriented affair, which suits me fine anyhow, except that there's no calming emotional release towards the end like I usually employ. This is just straight pomp and circumstance from start to finish.

On a few sidenotes, I no longer care for the Foo Fighters, but I gave them a chance anyway out of sentimentality and there were a couple worthwhile songs on the new album. The Dropkick Murphys are better than ever these days, I'm absolutely infatuated with Dressy Bessy's 2003 self-titled record now, The Donnas surprised me by bouncing back from their mediocre 2004 effort with a new, even more Runaways-esque follow-up, Springsteen is awesome (the apex of his new one is the devastating "Terry's Song", in my opinion, but it doesn't belong here), I discovered Grand Ole Party just last weekend when they opened for Rilo Kiley in San Diego, I've been meaning to use that Against Me! track for the last few months but kept forgetting, I didn't really enjoy "In Rainbows" (not a Radiohead fan at all, but I try to keep up with industry phenomenons like them) but after giving it infinite patience I grew to like at least a couple tracks (including "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" and "Videotape"), and last but not least, the "Hairspray" remake was so fucking happy I don't think I'll be in a bad mood for at least another few months. Which might sound sickening to some, but is just perfect for me :)

This looks amazing. It's funny because I just got Dressy Bessy's s/t CD and have been absorbed by it as well. Love seeing Tullycraft getting some publicity here on AOTM. I thought everybody had forgotten them.

although I only know about half of the songs on this, the title is fantastic. How come they don`t make shows like "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" anymore?

Tullycraft will not be forgotten Kazoober, not round here. A lot of this mix I'd love to get to know better but can't enthuse enough over that Tweeds song, powerpop par excellence.
