Comment:
I made this mix to give to a girl (named Eliza) whom I was best friends with for a year before telling her I was in love with her. Her response wasn't very good (like a brother to her). I made this mix to win her over but I still haven't given it to her. This is my first mix, and I spent many hours on it. It was tough because I wanted it to be an optimistic mix for winning a girl over but I already knew it wouldn't work.Titles are tentative.
**Brighten My Northern Sky**
Side A: "For Now We are Young":
Starts when I started having feelings for her. Some really beautiful songs here. Ends with "maybe we should just stop here".
Side B: "And the Earth is Warmer When You Laugh":
Starts out with time to think it over with a Mogwai song we used to love. The Brooks Strause song is really good, try to find it. Side b gets progressively more pessimistic, I think, until I just say that I don't care if she wants me, I'll still be there with Shelter. The bonus song is by an awesome Pop-Punk band from Portland Maine and is really only on there because of her name.
Feedback is appreciated. If you want one of these songs but cannot find it anywhere, drop me an e-mail.
Feedback:
The formatting sucked on my comment. Side A is called "For Now We are Young" and side B is called "And the Earth is Warmer When You Laugh"
This looks like a great mix. Big fan of the Mazzy Star track.
I like a lot of this. I like that Pavement.
Good luck.
Good luck.
this is real nice. too bad about the girl. it's a great tape regardless.
Welcome to the site and keep the mixes coming.
When a girl tells me I'm like a brother to her I tell her I come from a small village where it is customary for brother and sister to sleep together. Sometimes I change my surname to hers to cement the deal.
I hope this tape wins her over, it's won me over but I'm not a hot looking girl.

wow i don't know how i missed this - hard to believe this is a debut effort. so many beautiful songs here - the nick drake is one of my top 10 all-time favorite songs, love the NMH, bright eyes, otis redding, pavement, mag fields, buddy holly, jeff buckley, iron & wine, mazzy star, arcade fire, ray lamontagne...so much good stuff here. hope you successfully woo your girl - good luck!
Real nice.
this looks great and lush and beautiful. somehow i feel quite confident in that, despite not knowing very many of the songs at all. that dar williams song is a treat -- even though i don't usually like her, that song is quite beautiful. i love the titles (both of the mix itself and of the individual sides), did i say that yet?? looks like a totally coherent emotional soundscape.
