Well, it was an arduous task, but here it is: my top 20 favorite songs (up to this point in my life, at least). I arranged them according to flow, since it was extremely difficult to pick one song over another at times. The majority of these songs have been on heavy rotation for the past several years. Two childhood favorites, "Light Up My Room" and "Spirits (Having Flown)" have stood up to years of evolving musical taste. And while "Tender" wasn't one of my favorites when I was young, I bought Monaco's Music For Pleasure from Goodwill when I was in elementary school. So it kinda counts, I guess.
At this point in my life, I'm satisfied with my taste in music. I know I'll always continue accumulating new music, but I don't think I'll ever be embarrassed by the music I've listened to for the past, oh, three years. Well, maybe HIM. I liked them a couple years before they broke stateside, and I'm not really into the albums they've released recently (Dark Light and Venus Doom)...but my feelings on HIM are more suited to a blog entry than a mix comment!
The final track is my favorite song of all. It's been that way since the first time I heard it back in 2003. However, recently I've really come to love "Tender" by Monaco, and I'm wondering if maybe there'll be a new reigning favorite song soon.
