Comment:

This particular reformatting was originally inten-ded as the first of two Halloween mixes. Well...I guess it's kind of a Halloween mix anyway! The first two tracks (Goblin, Rob Zombie) are decidedly in the holiday spirit, at least. But also, Disc #1 concludes in deepening, darkening shadow - as opposed to many others which en-d either in exuberant, rocking-out triumph or gentle, lilting balladry. (If you go back to the very first of my mixes, that was another example of a mix whose first half en-ded with a walk on the dark side!) For all practical purposes, Disc #2 is probably even less of a genuinely Halloween mix than the first half! But I have to say that this particular holiday mix of mine is definitely well-booken-ded. I mean, think about it: We be-gin with a horror-movie instrumental about a witch, or an evil female spirit (Mater Suspiriorum, or the Mother of Sighs) - and we conclude with an ode to what would appear to be a good, positive female spirit! Speaking of which, while I'm generally not really all that familiar with Bollywood musical numbers (or hip-hop-flavored remixes thereof), when I first heard this version of "Chaiyya Chaiyya" during the credits of Spike Lee's heist thriller "Inside Man," I knew I had to get the soundtrack just for this song! I also threw Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" into the mix. I figured I'd been putting it off for long enough, y'know...

That's my favorite Aerosmith tune, and the "Inside Man" tune is amazing! Heck of a closer.

Wot, no Yes ;) Goblin are not exactly my thing but I seem to soften towards them when I hear them while watching an Argento film. Again I like more than I thought I would but the Pistols is my top pick. Kathryn was a Suede fan back in the day, I think she's cooled towards them since then.
