Comment:

Well, here's MIX #49! This time around, on Disc #1, I pulled off the trick of putting three "Smiths" together in a row (Tracks #16-18). I always wanted to do that, actually! Actually, it was sort of by accident that I pulled that off, because I wanted to put Joy Division's "Heart And Soul" next-to-last on Disc #1, right between Floyd and Priest, but there wasn't quite enough room, so I substituted one Manchester outfit for another (Morrissey & Co.), and PRESTO! Three "Smiths" in a row! Anyway, I personally think that "Heart And Soul" makes for a rather effective lead-in to "The En-d" on Disc #2. Of course, "The En-d" isn't literally the en-d. That would be WAY too bloody obvious, right?? So I followed up with Nirvana's "En-dless, Nameless" (ha, ha!), which you may remember as the unlisted extra track on some editions of "Nevermind" or from the "Come As You Are" single CD. (By the way, on the quiet bit, Kurt Cobain can be heard quietly moaning, "Mother...mother..." Coming after Jim Morrison's Oedipal saga, that's actually...well, kind of creepy!) And I capped the whole thing off with a San Francisco radio jingle featured in the recent movie "Zodiac," which concludes the soundtrack album! Elsewhere, we've got two tracks from Rhino's first "Nuggets" box set (you guess which ones!) and one track apiece from each film in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" double-feature (again, you guess which ones!).

Monks and Turtles from the Rhino box I imagine and great songs they are too. Love the Beatles and Joy Division tracks.
