Comment:

Well...I'm sorry that I finished MIX #50 over the weeken-d, before I could take anybody else's suggestions into consideration! :-( For the record, KathrynandRupert suggested "Lucifer Sam" by Pink Floyd, Doowad suggested "I Hate Myself And I Want To Die" by Nirvana, Gabechouinard suggested "Smash Your Radio" by Sister Machine Gun, and finally Captain Hi-Top suggested "Californication" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "The Letter" by the Boxtops, and "You're Crazy" (acoustic version) by Guns N' Roses. And the only two songs that I don't have are "Smash Your Radio" and "The Letter"! So expect all the other suggested songs to eventually show up in my next mix or two. That's a promise. And thank you very much for your participation, people! :-) Last but not least, would anyone care to suggest a title for MIX #50? And remember, it has to be a line from one of the songs included on the mix. Right now, I'm heavily leaning toward "All I Wanted Was A Pepsi!!" But I'm certainly eager to hear what other people suggest...In the meantime, here's what I came up with last night! On Disc #2, we've not only got a rarity from the "White Album" era by the Fab Four, but a pair of "Pre-Fab" Fours! [*wink*]

Darth, can we ever see you branch out from your standards? I'd like to see mix 51 to come out completely different from anything you've posted before. Can I suggest trying to mix together two completely different genres and seeing what you come up with?

I think this is a great mix, the Dylan and Lennon go together very well. "Peace Frog is one of my favorite Doors songs! Kix, Suicidal Tendencies, you don't see those bands around here very often. Will post another comment if a title comes to me....

Masters Of War followed by Working Class Hero, like that. If I think of a title I'll be back...

Regarding Gabechouinard's comment below: Sorry to disappoint you, but most of what's in my CD collection - not all, but most - pretty much falls within the "rock" category. However, I think "rock" happens to encompass a pretty wide variety of artists and moods and styles. For the record, Disc #1 of my upcoming MIX #51 kicks off with Metallica, the Mamas & The Papas and U2, and concludes with Iron Maiden, Peter Hammill and Captain Beefheart! If that's not enough of a mix-and-mashup to satisfy someone, well, there's really not much more I can do! :-(

Looks I'm a little too late for the great title chase, but here were my suggestions anyway:

"Heartbreaks And Keepsakes---The Pazuzu Mixes Reach Fifty"

"Out Here On The Perimeter There Are No Stars; Out Here We Is Darth Immaculate"

"Hey, Ma! At Least It's Not Crack....Confessions Of A Music Addict"

"Dreaming In Audio: Darth Pazuzu Celebrates Half A Hundred"

"Pazuzu Mix #50: As Unforgettable As A Cavity Search"

Though at times this site can be a little elitist, It's still a great place to discover music. Congrats, Darth on reaching the magical number of 50. All titles are in fun and yours to use for other projects or not at all.

These are cool titles, Captain! But actually, my rule is that the title has to be a line from one of the included songs.

congrats on reaching the big Five-Oh, Dr. Pazuzu! I'm glad you came up with a title yourself, because I'm not real familiar with the lyrics to most of these songs. All I could come up with is "PAZUZU MIX #50: Hey Little Sister, Shotgun!" which doesn't flow very well off the tongue. did I already tell you that I bought a bunch of AC/DC records lately? I think it's your fault.

"Mystery Dance" is top-notch. Kudos on the Suicidal Tendencies too.

The thing that gets me Darth is that you are clearly an articulate, intelligent being yet your mixes contain the same bands every time. We ALL try to make interesting transitions yet we don't crow about it. I've never heard a mix of yours but I'm all but certain they all sound exactly the same. Same band's differnt songs different order.
If you enjoy it then thats cool, it's just my theory on the lukewarm stroke ice cold response your efforts seem to garner and I think that was what gabechouinard was driving at. Anyway love your closer.

Barrydali: Thank you for your critique below. In reply, let me just say that I always make room for my favorites. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Queen, the Who, Soundgarden, Van Der Graaf, Patti Smith, Metallica, etcetera...All those are what I would call my "regulars." (And I've just started dipping into the Bob Dylan catalogue, so expect to see much more of the Minnesota bard from this point on!) Every now and then I try to mix it up a little, maybe throw in a few lesser-known gems from my "Nuggets," "No Thanks!" and "Left Of The Dial" box sets from Rhino Records. But my philosophy, if one would care to dignify it by calling it such, is that each individual mix has got to be a good overall representation of my tastes - even if that means that many of the same people show up! Granted, sometimes the Beatles or Led Zep may not even show up on a mix or two, but I make no apologies about my "regulars"...
