Comment:

This one is actually the starting point of my 15plus-CD-"Decades"-project , trying to make a mix that combines some sort of pop-musical overview of a decade, include some of my favorite songs from that period and still come up with something that doesn't sound too much like a sterile history lesson but like a good mixtape (well, CD in fact) instead. I did a slightly different version of this mix some time ago after finally confronting that decade that had music-wise been slightly ruined for me by listening to Phil Collins, Queen's 80s output and Brian Adams as a 10-year-old back in '88 as well as several 'revival'-parties in the late 90s. Starting from The Smiths, Bowie, Prince and The Cure, which for me used to stand out as lonely islands in that decade, I started to connect the dots.

I was just thinking of a mix like this to represent the 80's in a truer form sure everyone knows hardcore punk was better in the 80's but a surprisingly large group still thinks 80's music was all cheese and synth.

Bursting with bulbous beauties. Of course the 70's were better but this shows how good the 80's could be:).

I always had a weakness for the Pet Shop Boys & ABC. Love that Steely Dan tune.
