Comment:

31. Petula Clark - Downtown
Although The Beatles were big at this time, Herman's Hermits were perhaps a tad bigger for the Spring of '65 (or at least on par). The later group had it's best period at this time and this mix makes that clear by using three of their four hits that peaked in the top 5 and were in the top 10 during this period. The mix lasts 77m56s

The spring of '65 preceded the summer of my wasted youth, but it still holds pleasant memories.

if i could be transported to my childhood, i'm pretty sure this is exactly what it would look like - herman's hermits were my mom's obsession as a child, so i got more than a heavy dose of them as a toddler, & they've become a staple in my musical past - SO MANY fantastic tunes her it's making my head spin! can't wait to take a time machine with this one (the first supremes cut was my favorite song when i was about 6-7, ace choice!)

Great stuff, RetroJoe! I was 9 in the spring of 1965, and my Japanese transistor radio was glued to my ear every night listening to all these great songs on WABC in NY...What a rush of great memories...Pretty much explains why I fell so hard in love with the radio and music...Thanks.

Ah, I should have known that a mix this perfectly done would be the retro man. You are really on a tear these days.

Flashback to my childhood, going to see "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" in my local movie theater. Ah, popcorn and corny pop with the big screen! Good fun.

A bit before my time, but right up my alley. This is great, from beginning to end!
