Kill Rock Stars! Ladies' Mix
Comment:
Radical feminism! Empowerment in 31 tracks! Yeah! This mix was compiled a several years ago from music on the label Kill Rock Stars following a time when I first became "aware" of this little thing called feminism and was immediately intrigued. I think that most, if not all, of the tracks were featured as mp3's on the KRS Web site once upon a time. I recently dug up the CD as I was packing for my move and I re-compiled the mix, changed the track listing a little bit.Flyer artwork is from the KRS site.
Feedback:
awesome - this brings me back to 1998 when i listened to pretty much all of these bands all the time.
girl power
hell yes. this is great, but it's missing some emily's sassy lime (my favorite KRS band!)
emily's sassy lime! good choice. i'll have to remember that for next time. :)
Great stuff. Reminds me of a particular time in my life putting on riot grrrl bands in London. Hey,I even get a mention in the book Riot Grrrl, on page 89 I think. Oh my ego.
Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad to see it, definitely.Glad to see mixers not "afraid" of the website too.
I was thinking about doing a mix like this one. it's pretty much perfect.
i'm a dude, and this is such the right thing. sleater kinney are great.
I love your picks by Mary Lou Lord, S-K, Huggy Bear and Kleenex/Liliput, and have always had a soft spot for "New Radio."
KRS had some really good stuff and a lot of clunkers. I applaud the concept, though.
