Comment:
The second of this anthology's three discs focuses on Nick's work with Rockpile (the Labour of Lust, Seconds of Pleasure and, without Dave Edmunds, Nick the Knife albums) and his "pick-a-style-any-style" period that finally began to resolve itself with 1990's relatively consistent Party of One album (see "All Men Are Liars" and "What's Shakin'..." for its best moments). Last tracks cut from this volume: "36 Inches High," "Nutted by Reality," "Endless Grey Ribbon," "Now and Always," "Pet You and Hold You" (both Rockpile), "Stick It Where the Sun Don't Shine," "Paid the Price," "Maureen," "Breakaway," "She Don't Love Nobody," "7 Nights to Rock," "Everyone," "I Got the Love," and "(I Want to Build a) Jumbo Ark." Thanks to doowad and sport! for their help pulling together material for this volume.Feedback:
Security's so tight on that first volume, I'm not allowed to see it, but I'm glad to see this one. I have liked pretty much everything Nick has down, Half a Boy and Half a Man is tops for me here.
I was still with him up through "Ragin' Eyes" (great song!), but that's when I dropped off. My favorite 3 Rockpile tracks are here (woo-hoo!).
can't fault anything here either, especially since you included his cover of my favorite elvis costello tune (& one of my 20 all-time favorite songs by anyone)
