Comment:

(NOTE: I decided to post Disc #1 before I had even started Disc #2, since I thought it would be a good timesaver, my having only a finite amount of time to post every day!)

And today's eliminations are:
Thin Lizzy - Black Rose (1979) (#119 - 10/11/08)
Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine (1992) (#119 - 10/11/08)

1969 / 1970 < 1977 < 1984 - Just a little exercise in time travel... [*wink*]

Crucifix Kiss < The Only Way (Hymn) < Infinite Space (Conclusion) - I've had it in the back of my mind to use the Manics and ELP tracks in a mix for some time now. But until now it never occurred to me that the subject matter of both (religious dogma) might make for an interesting sequence when placed back to back!

Rest - A very early number from Green Day, from the 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours era. Something of a lilting ballad, with lyrics somewhat sappier than what Billie Joe would give us later.

You Take My Breath Away < Risveglio - I decided to close Disc #1 with this lesser-known Freddie Mercury ballad (from 1976's A Day At The Races), and I appen-ded a brief piano instrumental (courtesy of Claudio Simonetti) from the soundtrack disc to George A. Romero's original 1978 Dawn Of The Dead (European Version) as a sort of coda to the Queen number! At least I think it works...

Transmaniacon MC / Red Alibi < Black Flag - Trust me, it wasn't originally part of my plan to include a "red" and a "black" song back to back, but I guess it does work as a sideways BOC reference (ha, ha)!

Lounge Lizzard - Along with final single Saturday Gigs, this was one of only two tracks that Mott The Hoople recorded with Mick Ronson on guitar. This song was later re-recorded by Ian Hunter and Ronson for Hunter's 1975 solo debut.
