Comment:
Hello out there!! Y'know, it might be considered by some to be rather tacky to fish for compliments so blatantly, but so far I only got one comment for my last mix, PAZUZU MIX #133: The Farther One Travels...The Less One Really Knows! I've had that brewing in my head for quite some time before actually laying it onto disc and posting it, and right now I'm kind of feeling just a tad...what's the word?...crestfallen...that so far there's been only one note of feedback on it! :-( Hey, I'm not angry or anything, and I know that this site's not exactly a hotbed of activity these days, but I'm feeling just a little bit neglected right about now. Yeah, it's silly, I know... [*wink*]Two eliminations today:
102. Aerosmith - Pump (1989)
103. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery (1973)
Well, actually this mix is the result of gathering up everything that didn't make the cut in this whole other mix I've got brewing in my mind (which will be #135 - stay tuned!), but since I haven't yet purchased the necessary CD's to finish that one, I thought that I'd simply post this one first! :-)
Foxy Foxy - A little stomper from the most recent Rob Zombie CD, Educated Horses. Less the industrial-tinged crunch that he's best known for, and actually more of a borderline-funky '70s-style glam stomper! And his vocals on this track bear a strong Alice Cooper influence.
Super Trouper (X 2) - Aside from the title and subject matter, these numbers from ABBA and Deep Purple have rather precious little in common! :-)
Storm < 18 And Life < Bridge - Although it wasn't actually by conscious design, what we have here is sort of a trilogy about troubled and angry youth! The first number (from post-Ian Hunter-era Mott) is an angry, paranoid, jealous rant to a lover suspected of being unfaithful. The Skid Row song is of course about the tragic life of young Ricky, who shoots his best frien-d in a burst of anger and then gets sentenced to life in prison. The gentle Queensryche ballad is kind of like Harry Chapin's Cats In The Cradle seen from the child's point of view - only much more angry, bitter and less forgiving!
Circle Of Power - A really thrashing hardcore raver in 5/4 time (!) from Soundgarden, with vocalist Chris Cornell and original bassist Hiro Yamamoto switching places, the latter yowling the lyrics in a decidedly demented fashion!
Out In The Fields - A duet between Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott, a bit of a topical rocker. It was also one of Lynott's last hits before his untimely death...
Go Insane (a.k.a. A Little Game) - From the Doors' very first five-song demo! This deranged little novelty number became part of the band's Celebration Of The Lizard suite much later on...
