Comment:

Is it just me, or does anyone else around here thinks that the current technical difficulties just totally SUCK?!? :( :( :( I mean, seriously, I've been having a hell of a time posting anything with any breaks, italics or boldface lately, and whenever I've tried, our dreaded universal nemesis the "Server Error" rears its ugly freakin' head!! [*SIGH*]...Oh well, hopefully we should be starting to get back to normal soon. But in the meantime, I'm going to start "normalizing" my text little by little, the best I can, and I suppose I'll just have to just suck it up and be grateful for what I am able to get posted! :( (Follow-up note: I actually did it! I got everything boldfaced, italicized and spaced exactly the way I wanted it to be. Yaaaaaaayyy!!! :) :) :)

Well...it seems that I may have set a personal record for the least amount of artists and/or tracks on any of my mixes. But, as indicated by the subtitle, this is waaaaayy heavy on the progressive, lengthy, multi-part side of the rock fence, and that definitely eats into the running time! :)

2112 < Fitter Happier - Ha, ha! How do you like that particular bit of sequencing?? Yeah, I can just imagine that monotone computer voice emanating incessantly from loudspeakers in the Solar Federation's labor camps 24-7, just driving the political prisoners stark-raving bonkers...that is, until one day the "pigs" just snap, stage a revolt and then - guitars in hand - bust out of their "cage" and lead a daring full-frontal assault on Syrinx's Main Temple, just totally kicking the crap out of the priests and yelling, "And you can take those antibiotics and shove 'em up your ass!" (And frankly, I would throw in server errors for good measure...mwah-hah-hah!!)

Fitter Happier < Electioneering
Screams < She's As Beautiful As A Foot
Driven To Tears < When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What's Still Around - Yeah, I know I violated one of my "rules" big-time and included more than one song by three different artists, but these are all good examples of what I like to refer to as "inseparables." And by that I mean that each pair of songs is segued together and it's rather hard to imagine separating them from each other! Other examples of this particular phenomenon include Brain Damage < Eclipse (Pink Floyd), We Will Rock You < We Are The Champions (Queen), Brain Stew < Jaded (Green Day) and Long Distance Runaround < The Fish (Yes).

She's As Beautiful As A Foot < Driven To Tears - "What is my reaction? / What should it be? / Confronted by this latest atrocity?" Well, Sting...if I were the girl in the previous song, I'd buy a firearm, track down the sicko who took a bite out of my face and bust a cap in his cranium! (Yes, thank you, Uma and thank you, Quentin, for that one! And Rich-ard Meltzer, you really are a piece of work! [*wink*])

Cassandra Geminni - Pecular thing about this one: This very lengthy Mars Volta epic has five listed sections, but it's actually subdivided into eight separate tracks on the disc, and I've frankly never bothered to work out exactly what's what. So technically this should qualify as eight separate tracks, but I'm somewhat at a loss as how to designate each one specifically (ha, ha)!

Tombstone Blues < Locomotive Breath - Two more songs that I've included covers of in previous mixes (Richie Havens and W.A.S.P., respectively), but not the Dylan and Tull originals until now!

Agreed - the current problems with the site are a real pain. But you posted this anyway! Off to a great start with Rush, and what a trip to see the Dylan track on side 2, where we'd least expect it.

Oh, by the way, this disc marks yet another elimination!:
155. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (1965) (#155 - 3/4/09)
(Hey! how about that? 155th mix...155th elimination!! Ha, ha, ha!! Okay...it's true, I did use the live '75 Rolling Thunder version of It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry instead of the studio original, but I'm counting Highway 61 Revisited as an elimination anyway!)
