Comment:
Part two of the "60s in the 80s" series. Branching out a bit more with this volume to include some other poppy tuneful artists. And I make no apologies for including all of side 1 from the first Bangles ep - totally boss record. Truth be told, I like any musician who sounds like they have a great record collection. Always remember and never forget - originality is way overrated in rock n roll.Feedback:
Great series thus far, but I think this volume deserves special praise for the name alone.
Another swell edition evoking more recollections. Hey, some of these folks slept on my floor!(or did I sleep on theirs. I think it was both.
This is one fine mix.
great title. one of my earlier memories is off my brother studying to the hoodoo gurus...hmm. the bangles...man alive!! great mix.
a great mix again, Sean. Another one to throw on the "I want this" pile
Cool stuff, Sean. I'll be more specific when I actually make my way through the whole thing. :-)
Excellent as usual, Sean. Does anyone want to tackle a 70s in the 90s mix?
damn, sean! great stuff.
70s in the 90s? Hmmmmmm, I'm not sure if that's a really good thing. It seems like the bands doing 70s stuff in the 90s were concentrating on the sludgey not-so-tuneful music. I mean, Alice in Chains never did a Bo Donaldson cover.... Of course, there was a spate of bands doing Cheap Trick influence stuff, and that's a good thing. This reminds me - I've been meaning to do an AM 70s pop comp.
Wowee! Let's Active, The dB's, The Lyres, Smithereens, Game Theory, Feelies-- some truy terrific bands on here, and some I've never heard before. Based on what I've seen of your taste in music, I'd probably love them all!
I would totally love a copy of this and part one...any chance of a trade?
yeah this looks cool
Oh man. I'm listening to "Stands for Decibels" now, which prompts this comment, but this whole thing is utterly phenomenal. Green on Red is a great, great band too. But, seriously, why are the dB's not regarded as one of the greats? Man, I just love those first two albums.
