Comment:
I found out today that my best friend's father has cancer. This got me
thinking about my own father's untimely death seven years ago. After he
died I recorded a series of mix tapes, all of them sombre. I had
intended for some time to cull the best/most appropriate tracks and put
them together on one CD. I think it is really sad that it took this to
motivate me at last. This is a mix of songs/artists I grew up with,
songs/artists I associate with my dad, and songs whose overall tone
contributed to the melancholy mood. I hope I won't have to send her a
copy.

Feedback:
This is really sweet - good luck to your friend's dad.
This is beautiful reminder of your dad. Fortunately my mother is still alive, but I'm sure when she passes on it will be very difficult to hear Cat Stevens and James Taylor, two of her favorite artists, who I grew up with as well.
There are very many beautiful songs here, that's for sure. I wish your friend's dad the best. I've never lost a parent, so I can't even begin to fathom the notion behind this (aside from intellectually, of course.)
yes lovely stuff, hope he gets better
Thank you. I really hope he gets better too.
Although I have most of these songs, by the way, I think I'd like a copy of this. Your stack should be completed and (finally) sent by the end of the week...
I think it's really sweet and appropriate that your empathy for your friend prompted you to re-visit the tapes you made in your father's memory. I know it must have been bitter-sweet to listen to them again, especially in this context.
This is just . . . beautiful. Best wishes for your friend and her father.
I remember listening to the song The Kick Inside with you in my car as we drove through a winding stretch of road, just outside of Boonville, very late in the day. It's etched into my brain.
I think of that song every time I am in Napa valley at dusk too.
