Comment:

Our Deep Cuts features a secret Santa surprise package ranging from delighted to dejected, mirthful to melancholy, and high-spirited to heartbroken — the perfect complement for every emotional "gift" you and yours might receive. Phil Spector's famed Wall of Sound gets a Brit-style update in ELO founder Roy Wood & Wizzard's "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday". Royal Crown Revue honks out a jumpin', jivin', and wailin' bundle of zoot-suited swing in "Hey Santa." And what would our Merry Christmas be without a little misery in the mix? To that end, Marshall Crenshaw's "Lonely Christmas" summons up all the hangdog sad-bastardness of spending the holidays in solohood, while the Decemberists decant a little Johnnie Walker wisdom, alt-country-style, to their version of John Denver's plea against celebratory excess, "Please Daddy (Don't Get Drunk This Christmas)."
