Comment:
In our Deep Cuts, we’re setting our sights on the holiday part of our holiday, with a chillaxin’ set to help you move to the three-day groove. First order of business on our cookout has to be the menu, and Little Feat serve up a slab of Southern-style hospitality in the title track from their third album, Dixie Chicken — a swampy gumbo of second-line funk and jam-friendly country rock. If you’re feeling a little, well, beefier, why not hook up with the legion of self-proclaimed Parrotheads for a heaping helping of Jimmy Buffett’s loose-limbed ode to America’s favorite food in America’s favorite place, “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” which provided Buffet not only with a hit song, but also a restaurant franchise. And if mellow is the siren song that calls your name, the Young Rascals absolutely have your number with their chart-topping 1967 hit, “Groovin’.”
