Comment:
A goodbye mix as I leave the boyfriend here in NJ to go to school in PA. It's been a fabulous, tumultuous and incredible 8 months together, and I think this mix reflects a lot of those feelings. My ambivalence about long distance (How Can You Be Sure?) and what a leap of faith it will be to stay together (Just Don't Say You Lost It), to my deep trust in him and us (the Ben Harper and Dispatch tracks). The use of both Bruce's I'm on Fire and Tori's version was mainly for aesthetics; I love hearing a male and a female voice do the same track. The effect is almost like a conversation: they're echoing the same sentiments but in a much different mood. The David Gray track and the Ani song are both very much about me, about how I've been sometimes in this relationship- not nearly as loving or tender, mainly out of fear. The Gray track sets that up- I'm the girl in the song, who "couldn't care less about her soul"- and the Ani track is the follow up apology. AS FOR THE TITLE- a send-off to the Bright Eyes track, which is really the centerpiece of my feelings on this one. A traditional sonnet is fourteen lines, and this CD is 13 tracks- thus, "One Less Than Perfect." I hope he likes this. I know it will nurse me through the worst parts of missing him.Feedback:
wow, that sounds very complex. and personal. I love your explanation of it! :) nice job.
Nice mix. I hope all works out well for you.
I love the idea behind the title and the tracks...just awesome...
