Comment:
In Deep Cuts, we're two-steppin' our way into the Deep South — specifically Georgia, Alabama, and Texas — to get a line on their line-dancing classics. The first to peek out from under our big ol' hatful of hits is one of Urban Cowboy's guest stars, Charlie Daniels, with the fire-fingered fiddle favorite that put him on the map, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." It's pretty much impossible to keep pace with the Devil all night long, so Alabama dials it back a notch with an easy-livin' ramble, "Down Home," sweet as sugar magnolia and comfortable as your favorite pair of Hush Puppies. And if you like a little habañero hot sauce with your barroom shuffle, the late Doug Sahm leads the Texas Tornados through a Sir Douglas Quintet-ish blend of Galveston and Guadalajara in "Little Bit Is Better Than Nada."
