Comment:
So, Beth and I broke up. And I still can't really handle it. I know, it's not healthy to be this upset, but it's not something I can just flip off as if it were a switch.I made this disc because I need some music that doesn't remind me of her. All my favorites seem to be taken. We met at a Ben Folds concert. Our first kiss came as she put on Better Than Ezra. We made love to Jeff Buckley. She played me Elliott Smith. Coldplay, and Sam Shaber songs on her guitar. I sang her Eels over the phone. We held hands at Guster.
And now it's all gone.
So, instead of putting "Extraordinary" and "Lover You Should Have Come Over" back to back and making me cry like an infant, I've compiled the songs that had no bearing on our relationship. The songs which still make me happy. The songs that don't take me back to places I'm not ready to go just yet.
Feedback:
Relax, man. I've been dumped by a Beth too. They're brutal. Nice mix, by the way. Hope it helps you move along.
The Brother Cane song is a great one...I'd totally forgotten about it until I saw it on your playlist. Sweet choice.
Break ups suck ass. I love your idea though, of playing stuff that DOESN'T remind you of this Beth chick. Major kudos for Brother Cane- 1 of my favourites + 1 of the most over-looked bands ever, in my opinion. I'm in a bit of a similar situation right now; I wonder where my inspirations will take me now that I've seen this. Out.
