Comment:
I've tried the latter for long enough, so maybe the former deserves a chance. 76 minutes that say exactly what I couldn't bring myself to say for 9 long months. I leave for school again 800 miles away in 2 weeks and had to let her know how I felt. Pretty blatant I think, but subtlety was never my strong suite, especially with mixes like these.I really hate "Beast of Burden" but it's her favorite Stones song.
"Love Untold" sums up the mix, I guess. I could've picked a number of Westerberg songs ("Dyslexic Heart," "Between Love & Like"), but that would break my one song per artist rule.
There's a line in "Love Untold" that goes, "Checking on her face / Checks his sleeve for his ace / And both just in case / Wear clean underwear." I used to think the characters wore clean underwear because they crapped themselves with nervous anticipation before the date. Now I know that they did it "just in case" sparks flew.
Oh yeah, I wrote "Every Time" about the girl in question and recorded it on a four-track.
Feedback:
i really like this. great job.
The Sloan track is great, perfect for this.
beast of burden is a great song, come on
it's always great to see someone put their own material on a mix. good stuff.
Thanks for the feedback. And it's not that "Beast of Burden" is a bad song, it just seems so mediocre to me. Especially for the Stones. "Angie" and "Wild Horses" are both Stones ballads with balls -- "Beast of Burden" has none.
I love your choice by Dire Straits...came off their best album, in my opinion. Like all of your other choices on here as well: good picks from the Cars, CSN, and Zeppelin. I agree with what you say about Beast of Burden, not that I really dislike it, just that Wild Horses is a much better song.
