Comment:
This was a mix made for Purnell & Glenn in a trade organized by rainswept (here's to many more), the jumping off point was Spring. I tried to make a mix that was upbeat (end of winter) but also about reluctance (which this Spring certainly was -- the Dar Williams song checks the fact that in Upstate NY, where I'm from, April did have a blizzard to show she didn't care). The CD also has a couple of NYC songs as the two guys I made it from are in NYC & Long Island, and I am a displaced NYer and miss it desperately. Tracks 19 & 20 are a hidden track & a bonus track. Sweet Avenue because I thought it was such a great song but for some reason while making the mix I wanted it to "officially" end on a high energy song (Yorba) and the last Costello is bonus because it's kind of low-fi recording but an AMAZING version of a great song. Costello begins & ends the mix because it was made the month he got married. . . or that'd be the excuse I would use if pressed. --Margaret
