You don't have to be a country singer to ride off into the sunset to a cowboy song. Elton John might be more comfortable in silver platform heels than Western riding boots, but that doesn't stop him from remembering magical childhood days mesmerized by the silver-screen exploits of cowboy star "Roy Rogers." L.A. pop genius Harry Nilsson keeps things in kid-friendly territory, delivering a last-roundup lullaby to send a "Little Cowboy" to dreamland. And you might think of Bob Dylan's outlaw ballad "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" as strictly a classic-rock standard, but it was also the backdrop for the climactic scene in Sam Peckinpah's '70s cult-fave cowboy flick [i]Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid[/i].
