Comment:

31) Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)32) I'm Waiting for the Day33) God Only Knows7/24/07: This is yet *another* revised version of my three-disc Beach Boys collection, this time following Pop Kulcher's lead and posting it as a "box set" listing chronologically across three discs. Yes, I think, to a degree, that hearing them as single-disc offerings somehow makes them more palatable to the general public, but it's certainly an interesting approach. This covers 1961-most of 1966.

I was almost 17 back in 1980 when I saw The Beach Boys at Knebworth, I'd oanly gone to see Santana but the Beach Boys headlined and were awesome. Thus commenced a love for the band that's still as strong today. Top mix Rob.

Which two bands have managed to convince you that they are better than the beach boys..that surely can't be possible. Obviously a brillaint mix, You couldn't go wrong really.

This looks fantastic. I'd love to get a copy of it, if you'd be interested in a trade?

They created some absolutely beautiful stuff; what a great band. Mike Love is still an asshole though.

Yes, all great songs - truthfully, though, how could one NOT make a great Beach Boys comp from the first 10 years? It's largely amazing; even the cars songs. Not bad for a sub-Kinks band. Heh - take that!

Magic pieces, Rob. I love the way Our Prayer takes you into H & V (I did it on my BB mix too (AotM submission #1!!)) but I like finish off with 'Til I Die too.

Cuddle up ranks as one of the most beautiful songs of all time! Dennis is the man! Good job.

What... no Kokomo? (I keed, I keed, I'm a keeder.) Can't argue with any of this... ok, wait, I can (and will): Sloop John B is my second favorite BB vocal performance (behind God Only Knows). I really like Cabinesscence, too, and the Charles Manson-penned Never Learn Not To Love.

This is awesome. I know (as Sean says) it's difficult to make a bad sixties BB comp, but all my absolute favs are here. Can't get enough of the great bands/Artists

Thank you, dear Rob, for introducing me to a band which has been under my nose for 30+ years... a band I thought I hated. This achingly beautiful disc has changed my opinion completely. Thank you so much for enlightening me. I'd give it 5 stars if you allowed ratings.

Great mix! It appears we have very similar taste in Brian Wilson's work - absolutely love "Cuddle Up" and "Baby Blue." Take a look at my "Life After Pet Sounds" mix (Mix ID: 74405).
