Comment:

This is CD 1 of a series of mixes I've been working on since my last road trip to Boston, when I had a lot of time on my hands. In the car I started scribbing on the back of a receipt the names of songs I love to sing along to. The centerpiece of this mix is "My Old Faded Rose", because it's just so much damn fun, but that's a recent favorite. As you can probably tell, I've been singing along to most of these songs for years. Particularly, "Your Wildest Dreams" is one of the earliest songs I can remember loving. I'm not proud of it, but there it is.

I love singing along - it's occurred to me over the years that I may enjoy doing it more than actually appreciating genuinely good music. I only know about half the songs on this mix so I'm looking forward to checking out the rest to see if they're truly singalong worthy, but the familiar ones (a-ha, Extreme, any version of "Walking in Memphis", Righteous Brothers, B-52s, your centerpiece Cash song) are a good indication that you know what's what. Be proud!

'You never close your eyes any more when I kiss your lips...' wrote the Righteous Brothers in their 1964 hit. Well, to be fair, in order to see that your bird's not closing her eyes when you're copping off with her you would have to have your eyes open as well. It sounds to me like they've both 'lost that lovin' feeling.' I reckon the relationship is dead in the water and they should end it now before they both get hurt.
