Comment:

In recognition of Easter this year (I realize this is a bit premature, but I felt strongly about making this mix, and have been working on it nonstop), I have decided to compile, as a gift for my extended family, a CD of secular songs pertaining to Jesus and the sacrifice marked by this holiday. It's basically my soundtrack to the death and resurrection.

The first three songs are mournful... nobody understood why this was taking place. The man who was supposed to save them from the Romans was just crucified. But they didn't know the plan. During the flaming lips and narnia songs, something is happening... a spell is breaking, a wound is healing. change has come. I like to imagine Jesus as the 1st person in songs 7, 10, and 13. kindof like he's explaining what he's all about and why all this has happened. The last set of songs are in celebration of this feat, and finally anticipation of what is yet to come.
