You Wear Your Influences On Your Gatefold Sleeve Vol. 2
Comment:
This is the second of two mixes I made for myself; I wanted a mix that consisted of tracks very reminiscent (not derivative), of the '60s psychedelic dream pop sound, and late sixties bucket funk. I wanted music that reminded me of Brian Wilson, Syd Barrett, The Rolling Stones, Lennon and McCartney, Zombies, Kinks, Move, Love, Quicksiver Messenger Service, The Small Faces, James Brown, The Meters, and The Mar-Keys. I wanted a mix of music that if snuck into my parent's vinyl collection, would not be out of context.Feedback:
Though I don't recognize all the tunes, I recognize what you are trying to do... nicely... Fine cover too.
Looks as good as your first one, posted 363 days ago. I've been counting the days for the sequel ;)
looks great - in fact loks like something that either Gerry or Valis would have put together.
I know NOTHING here, and I WANT TO...The definition of a flawless mix, then!
It's a thought that always sticks in my mind when a wave of new bands comes out...mmmm, haven't i heard this before! I've only heard of a couple of the bands you've chosen, as April says the definition of a flawless mix!
Outstanding windmillhdc! The Rainbow Quartz label is very well-represented here, and the San Diego psych-poppers are a welcome addition to the scene-the Silver Sunshine! My kind o' stuff!
A few artists I've come across...and considering the company...I look forward to doing so!
Same sentiment really, the few tracks i do know i think are great. The ones i don't i'm sure i would also think are.
I didnt see the first one of these and I've been working on something similiar for a week now, dammit!!! That said, this looks way better than mine was shaping up so hats off to you, excellent stuff.
Extremely nice. Love the TBs, Sugarman Three, Of Montreal & JFs especially.
The half of this I recognize is pretty killer (Shazam, Of Montreal, Essex Green, etc.), so I'll have to look into the others. Your parents, incidentally, appear to have had a far cooler vinyl collection than my parents; I don't think compiling a tribute to Herb Alpert, the Carpenters, and Henri Mancini would come out nearly as well.
