Comment:

"Why do you prefer to live in the past?" some people have asked me.
Well, the rent is cheaper . . . but there's also the music.
Get far enough back from our own time & you can imagine you're in a simpler, more innocent,
world, where clever lyrics & catchy melodies were to be had for the plucking.

Anyway, quite a few folks said they got a kick out of my other 1920's samplers,
Crazy Rhythm
and
20's Somethings
, so here's another one, mostly bouncy instrumentals & cute rhyme schemes.
Sound quality is not always up to 21st-century standards, but I find that doesn't matter too much when you're feeling the spirit.

Did you ever hear Pete go "Tweet, tweet, tweet," on his piccolo?
Well you've missed a lot
'Cause he surely has got
Style that's hotter than hot.
Did you ever hear Pete go "Tweet, tweet, tweet," on his piccolo?
Well you've missed a treat
'Cause his melodies sweet
Are the kind that couldn't be beat.

This is a perfect whimsy for the soul. I have a "vast" collection of 20's and 30's music; hitherto, this was my guilty secret. Thanks joey de vivre, you've allowed me to come out of that particular closet. I would truly love to receive a copy of this mix -- for medicinal purposes only, you understand. Now, where did I put those Fletcher Henderson discs?...

By all accounts, you have some of the most impressive early 20th century collections I have seen.

Those sax players are the impressive pre-rock stance I've seen.

This may be way back in time, but it is way good from what I've heard so far from your other mixes of the '20s. Great to see you creating another mix from that special decade!

This isn't quite my era of interest, but I'm glad it's yours, as this site is enriched by niche-freaks like you, Jeff.

Sure, misbehaving is fun for a while, but then the stock market crashes and everyone's out of work. Do you suppose that Hitler was listening to this while writing Mein Kampf? Anyway, fun stuff!

Super duper mix! This is what VH-1 was playing in the 1940s.
